Ultimate Beverage Challenge 92 points - Black cherry color. Notes of dried cranberry, cedar in the straightforward bouquet that pleasingly tart, tight, bittersweet. Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2011 Ripasso Valpolicella Valpantena Secco Bertani is loaded tight with pressed fruit, prune, spice, tar, leather and dark licorice. A second fermentation occurs on the pomace of Amarone and Recioto that add an extra touch of sweetness to this wine. The texture is velvety and rich. Integrated acidity makes this a great choice to pair with rosemary-scented lamb or other succulent meat dishes. Drink 2014-2018. (Oct 2013)

|Wine maker notes
|The wine undergoes 11-days of maceration in vats at a controlled temperature and with programmed remontage. In March, it is re-fermented over Recioto Amarone skins, following the traditional Veronese technique called Ripasso. The wine is aged 75% in large Slavonian oak casks and 25% in French oak barriques for approximately 18 months. It is then refined in bottle for a minimum of 90 days.
|Grape Varieties - 80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Merlot
