Color: intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Bouquet: elegant, full, harmonious and persistent with suggestions of vanilla and raspberry. Flavor: long and velvety, full, generous and warm.
Wine Spectator 90 points - This red has mellowed to a burnished glow of cherry, plum and oak spice flavors, all in harmony. There are still some tannins on the finish, but they are integrated and this shows class and complexity. Drink now through 2018. 19,166 cases made.-BS  (Oct 15 2012)

Wine Enthusiast 90 points - A brooding, masculine expression, this offers savory aromas of cured meat and smoked bacon, with bright fruit aromas of blackberry and soft cherry. The wine is thick, inky and structured on the close, with a point of bright acidity that gives it balance.  (Dec 2012)

Wine & Spirits 90 points - With scents and flavors as black as ink when first poured, this wine’s tight reduction begins to relax into a bittersweet cocoa and black cherry intensity. The fruit lasts, tight, firm and juicy, ready to decant for grilled quail.  (Apr 2012)

Wine maker notes
Produced from estate-owned vineyards located in the picturesque countryside in the DOCG appellation in Tuscany. Carpineto Chianti Classico Riserva showcases an elegant bouquet of persistent raspberry and vanilla aromas lent from extensive aging in a combination of French and Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months and bottle for 10 months. Full in body and velvety in texture, the finish is long and generous.

Food pairing
perfect with roasts and game.

Producer
Founded in 1967, Carpineto is a partnership between Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zaccheo, whose original mission was to produce a world-class red wine from the Chianti Classico appellation. This was a radical departure from the marketplace of the times when most Chianti was still produced in the traditional winemaking style. Carpineto’s visionary founders recognized the untapped potential of the Tuscan landscape to produce truly great wines. By applying modern viticulture and winemaking techniques, they dramatically exceeded the quality standards of the day. Under their leadership, Carpineto developed an award winning, international reputation for elegant wines of approachable intensity and extract, as well as consistency vintage after vintage. Today Carpineto has reinforced these characteristics, while maintaining an approachable wine style due in part to an extensive bottle-aging program. In fact ”riserva” wines are bottle-aged a total of six to twelve months longer than the minimum time required by DOCG appellation rules. Today experimentation goes hand in hand with the spirit of innovation of the founders, with respect for historical Tuscan values. The product line includes wines from the most prestigious Tuscan DOCG appellations to varietal specific wines of great structure, as well as innovative proprietary blends. Carpineto exports the majority of its wine production to over 70 countries worldwide. About 95% of Carpineto’s wine production is red wine, with the majority being wines that are aged three or more years before their release date.
