Wine Advocate 91 points - Francis and Tannahill?s 2008 Gewurztraminer Dragonfly represents the latest release of distinctively delicious eight year collaboration with vines that just turned 50 year old and which Tannahill and Francis had to nurse back to good but still very low-yielding health. (For more about this recently renamed vineyard, consult my detailed account of Analemma in the present report). ?For me,? notes Tannahill, ?the Dragonfly Gewurztraminer is always really tight and aromatically fairly neutral soon after it?s bottled, and takes a while to express itself.? Classic scents of lychee, yellow rose, and pea tendril along with candied lime and orange peels segue into a creamy, glycerin-rich and expansive palate whose inner-mouth perfume is perfectly complemented by a wafting sense of buoyancy that totally belies the wine?s 14% alcohol. A lingering finish soothes while stimulating keen interest in the next sip. This fine rendition reflecting an American vineyard treasure happens also to represent outstanding value. (Aug 2012)
