On the nose, it displays a beautiful bouquet of blackberry and cassis with floral and mineral hints. It is complex on the palate with layered texture and a persistent finish.
Wine Enthusiast 91 points - This is classic Priorat from the opening gun. The nose is schisty on top, with molasses, spice, herb and stewed berry aromas below the surface. It’s a spunky, racy wine with flavors of tomato, red plum, hard spice, pepper and tobacco, and the finish feels good and shows no detectable faults. Wine Spectator 92 points - This muscular red is still fresh, offering a dark core of blackberry and plum framed by espresso, toast and mineral notes, with chewy tannins and enough acidity for balance. Wine Advocate 94 points - The 2006 Costers, a blend of 80% Garnacha and 20% Carinena, is a glass-staining opaque purple. It presents an enthralling nose of liquid minerality, truffle, underbrush, incense, black cherry, and blueberry. An infant on the palate, it is dense, still tightly wound but succulent, and impeccably balanced. It demands another 6-8 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2030.
(80% garnatxa and 20% carinyena): Glass-staining ruby. A wild, highly perfumed bouquet brings forth candied red fruits, incense and floral oils, with subtle cola and star anise nuances building in the glass. Juicy, penetrating raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are lifted by a tangy mineral quality and pick up a whiff of smoke on the back half.
