Wine Advocate 91 points - Clicquots 2004 Brut Rose La Grande Dame which incorporates 39% Chardonnay with its Pinot is pale salmon in color, its tangy and vivacious alliance of fresh red currant, fraise du bois and grapefruit with mouthwatering maritime salinity amid stimulatingly fine-grained tannin making for persistently savory satisfaction. The balance of refreshment and levity with fine-grained, almost silken texture and the entirely supportive nature of its subtle sweetness add to this Grande Dames irresistibility today, though I anticipate deeper flavors accumulating over the next couple of years in bottle. Wine Spectator 94 points - Elegant, with vibrant, well-knit acidity and a streak of minerality underscoring flavors of strawberry pate de fruit, currant, light smoke, fruit cake and ground ginger. Drink now through 2029.—A.N. (Sep 25 2013)
La Grande Dame Rose is produced only from the eight grand cru vineyards Madame Clicquot purchased in her lifetime, with still Pinot Noir from Bouzy, a grand cru vineyard especially favored by Madame Clicquot
|Each Cuvee is true to the Veuve Clicquot style and spirit, faithfully maintained from the time when Madame Clicquot was running the House under the motto, ”Only one quality, the finest”. Created with a majority of Pinot Noir in the blend, the Veuve Clicquot Champagne style is noted for a firm structure, full-bodied texture and rich aromas.
