This vintage of Director’s Pinot Noir blends grapesfrom Carneros, which produces fruit with
spice and earth notes, with grapes from the Russian River Valley, an area known for creating rich,
dense wines noted for bright cherry and cranberry flavors. As a result of combining fruit from
two appellations, we designate this wine "Sonoma Coast.” Both of these regions experience a cool
climate and fog that rolls in from the coast, conditions that favor Pinot Noir. Once our fruit is
placed in tanks after harvest, we perform punch downs each day in our open-top fermenters in
order to coax from our grapes as much color and flavor as possible. Because this wine represents
optimal vintage conditions, it’s even more deeply colored and dense than last vintage.
