An approachable, medium-bodied red wine with dark cherry fruit and garrigue overtones. Juicy yet balanced, the finish features slight notes of earth and spice.
Located in the Southern Rhone, the Domaine was founded in 1953, by Gilles Ferran, the grandfather of the current owner. A 3rd generation winemaker, Gilles received a degree in oenology and worked with his father Daniel for 10 years before taking control in 1999. The south facing vineyards are situated at unusually high elevations, about 492-656 feet above sea level which naturally promotes slow and even ripening. Traditional farming methods are employed, weeds are controlled by plowing and only organic fertilizers are used. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand and then destemmed before fermentation. The Grenache and Syrah are vinified separately in cement tanks.
