Appearance: Deep straw-yellow. Bouquet: Aromas of apple, peach, melon, and honey. Palate: Fruity, aromatic, and showing a judicious acidity.
Wine Advocate 89 points - The 2010 Gravina Poggio al Bosco is a single-vineyard selection of 60% Greco and 40% Malvasia. The Poggio al Bosco spends a few months on its lees, which gives the wine much of its textural richness. It is a gorgeous, plush white with layers of expressive fruit that caress the palate all the way through to the volptuous, polished finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.  (Jun 2011)

Wine maker notes
A distinctive cru wine produced from the grapes of a single vineyard, located in an ecologically pristine area on the border of the Bosco Difesa Grande, Puglia’s most important ”green lung.” It was planted in 1991 at an elevation of 600 metres with the specific goal of producing grapes of exceptional quality. The vines are planted at a density of 5,000 vines per hectare and trained to the Guyot system; the plant material came from a 10-year project of clonal selection, in collaboration with the University of Crop Science of Basilicata. The soils are Bordeaux type, with abundant pebble and gravel, and the location enjoys wide day-night thermal ranges and excellent ventilation.

Grapes: Greco mascolino, greco, malvasia. Denomination: Gravina - White DOP. Growing area: Difesa Grande, Gravina in Puglia area. Vineyard: Vigna del Bosco. Soils: Chalky, Bordeaux-style pebbly subsoil Year planted: 1991. Elevation: 600 metres Aspect: Southwest. Training system: Vertical Pruning system: Guyot. Vineyard density per hectare: 5,000 vines. Crop yield per hectare: 50 q.. Harvest period: End of September-early October. Fermentation: In stainless steel at 16-18C. Fermentation length: 15 days. Malolactic fermentation: None. Maturation: 4-5 months in stainless steel on the lees, then 4 months in bottle. Alcohol: 13% Vol. Analytical data : Acidity 5.90 g/l - pH 3.48.

Producer
In 1991, the D”Agostino family merged with the local cooperative winery, creating Botromagno, the first successful example of a privately owned winery partnered with more than 100 local grape growers. The D”Agostino family has been able to foster a reliable and efficient synergy with the local farmers; based on strict standards for quality grape growing, they have rapidly become one of the finest wineries in Puglia.
