Russiz Superiore is the pride of the Marco Felluga family. The family’s winegrowing dynasty started in the late 1800s, when the current Marco Felluga’s grandfather Marco recognized the terrain’s potential for cultivating grapes. Russiz Superiore is located in Capriva del Friuli, in the heart of Collio. Its name comes from its position that rises above the surrounding hills. The estate extends over 250 acres of which 125 acres are planted to vineyards. The vineyards are located in four different villages in the Collio DOC – Farra, San Floriano, Oslavia and Cormons. Each hill has a unique microclimate and the soil is rich in marl, loam and sandstone called flysch. The fruit is all handpicked. The property is managed by Alessandra and Roberto Felluga, children of the Marco Felluga. The winemaker is Rafaella Bruno.
Technical notes
Cold macerated and fermented in oak (15%) and stainless steel (85%). The wine is aged eight months on its lees and eight months in bottle.

Producer
The Marco Felluga family estate is a pioneer in regional quality and innovation. Founded in 1950 by Marco Felluga in Gradisca d'Isonzo, a fortified citadel of the former Venetian Republic. Today Marco’s son Roberto heads the family’s Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore wineries. Felluga controls over 250 acres of vineyards, most of which are family owned and operated, within the Collio DOC. The vineyards are planted on layers of sandstone, limestone and clay at an elevation of 262 feet. Marco Felluga employs integrated pest management in the vineyards, working with nature to protect the environment. White wines are filtered before fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. A percentage of white and red wines are refined in wooden casks. The winemaker Rafaella Bruno employs the latest technologies, while respecting tradition.
