Wine Spectator 89 points - A glossy, oak-tinged red, with a polished sheen to the flavors of cherry, blackberry and spice. Features boisterous tannins, but finds equilibrium overall. Merlot and Sangiovese. Best from 2016 through 2028. 100 cases imported.-BS

Vinous 90 points - The 2009 Giramonte is one of the standouts in this range from Frescobaldi. Sleek, racy and intense, the 2009 shows excellent balance and plenty of personality. Firm yet nicely integrated tannins support a core of dark red fruit, licorice, tobacco and smoke in this full-bodied, opulent wine.
The Tenuta di Castiglioni, the Frescobaldi family’s oldest estate, brought forth, in 1999, Giramonte, a rare and exclusive Cru. The qualities of its soil, an ideal microclimate, and rigorous selection of the fruit ensure, year after year, extraordinary consistency of quality. The result is a wine of great richness and intensity, silk-smooth, and with an almost endless progression and finish.
