Dark and dense with a streak of graphite mineralitythat balances notes of blackcurrants and toasted spices. Medium-firm tannins carry elements of ripe plum and lush black fruits, with hints of graphite, cedar toast and Indian marsala to a lingering finish.
Henry's Drive Vignerons was founded in 1992 by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark in
Padthaway, South Australia. The winemaking team is headed by Renae Hirsch with the support of Kim
Jackson as consulting winemaker. Renae brings over a decade of experience, having held winemaking
positions in France, Germany, the United States and Australia. 500 acres are planted with Shiraz,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho on soils that range from
limestone over sandy ridges to rich, red loam.
| Technical notes |
| The best parcels of Shiraz are selected from vineyards with soil types that range from red loam, black loam to deep sand over limestone. To increase the concentration and tannin structure of the varietal, juice from additional pressings were added to the blend and it was matured in French (85%) and American (15%) oak for four months. |
