Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2007 Lamaione (Merlot) is a huge wine that explodes from the glass with layers of sumptuous dark fruit, mocha, chocolate, licorice and new leather. The wine presents tons of richness and an opulent, full-throttle, internationally-syled personality. The Lamaione spent 24 months in new French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. (May 2011)
Lamaione is an exceptionally superb Supertuscan produced by the CastelGiocondo tenuta from merlot grown in the 12-hectare Lamaione vineyard, whose vines were planted in 1976 at an elevation of 300 metres.
