Wine Spectator 91 points - A ’95 with attitude. Firm, focused and full of biscuit, citrus and hazelnut flavors backed by vivid acidity, though there’s enough creaminess to keep everything in line. Good, nutty finish. Drink now through 2008. -BS

Vinous 92 points - Deep but youthfully unevolved aromas of toffee apple, lemon and mint. Penetrating, rich and thick, with a deep, yeasty, baked bread component. At once brisk and seamless but brooding more than expressive today. Finishes long, dry and backward. This may ultimately merit a score in the mid-90s.

Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin's Prestige Cuvee, La Grande Dame, is a very great wine which pays homage to a very great lady in the Champagne world, Madame Cliquot. The incomparable finesse of this cuvee results from a blend of eight of the house's traditional Grand Crus.
Strength and structure come from the dominance of Pinot Noir (60-65%) from the best plots on the Montagne de Reims (Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay) and the Grande Vallee de la Marne (Ay), blended with the freshness and delicacy of Chardonnay (35-40%) from the most prestigious crus on the Cote des Blancs (Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger).
|Each Cuvee is true to the Veuve Clicquot style and spirit, faithfully maintained from the time when Madame Clicquot was running the House under the motto, ”Only one quality, the finest”. Created with a majority of Pinot Noir in the blend, the Veuve Clicquot Champagne style is noted for a firm structure, full-bodied texture and rich aromas.
