Exceptional wines come from exceptional vineyards. This philosophy led us to select fruit from some of Mendoza’s finest growing regions. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from the regions of Tunuyan and Tupungato in the Uco Valley. Located at elevations over 3,000 feet, these areas share dry, sandy and well-drained soils with an arid, high-desert climate influenced by large diurnal temperatures swings. This extreme climate forces a beneficial stress on the vines, encouraging concentrated flavors and rich aromas to develop over the long season.
Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in the rocky soils and high mountain climate of Mendoza, developing a unique personality distinctive to the region. To retain the typicity of the varietal and the area, we handpicked our fruit from low yielding vineyards with expressive character. At the winery, the grapes were cold soaked for five days to encourage the slow extraction of subtle aromas and flavors. Frequent pump-over during fermentation and an extended maceration further focused the complexity and depth in the wine.
The Navarro Correas family descends from the Correas family, an old and prestigious name related to the production and manufacturing of high-quality wines. The family history dates back to 1798, when Sir Juan de Dios Correas planted the first vine seeds in the lands of Mendoza at the foot of the Andes ridge. Sir Juan De Dios also played an active role in the public life of Mendoza, where he served as Municipal Councillor in the year 1814 and as governor in 1824. Since mid 1800, and for more than a century, the family used to sell the Winery’s grapes and wines to other producers. Finally, in 1974 Sir Edmundo Navarro Correas, a direct descendant of Juan de Dios Correas, started to manufacture wines bearing his own name.
