Deep burgundy in color with vibrant violet hues. Onthe nose, it is packed with black fruit, such as ripe cherries and plums. Subtle violet flower notes with hints of raisins follow backed by a smoky character. It is fresh, juicy, and concentrated with sweet tannins and a very pleasant acidity; a mouthfilling, velvety texture rounds out the palate. The finish is long with hints of chocolate and a trace of cedar.
Wine Advocate 89 points - The 2008 Kinien (meaning “the unique”) Malbec was aged in new French oak for 14 months. Notions of pain grille, mineral, spice box, incense, lavender, and black cherry lead to a structured, slightly lean Malbec with savory flavors and moderate length. Another 2-3 years of cellaring may see it fill out and achieve an outstanding rating.” (Dec 2011)
