Made with the best grapes, after the traditional drying it is vinified according to the classical method. For its lower tannicity compared to the great Italian red wines (such as Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino….) it is largely understood and is suited to a large range of accompaniments.

Established in 1811, the Santa Sofia winery has headquarter and cellars in Pedemonte, north of Verona (Italy), near the city of Romeo and Juliet, in the noble villa designed by Andrea Palladio in the sixteenth century in one of the most beautiful areas and temperate regions of the Valpolicella Classico: Villa Santa Sofia, formerly known as Villa Sarego. Since 1996 Villa Santa Sofia is included in the UNESCO World Heritage along with other villas built by the architect Andrea Palladio.
Santa Sofia, with the turn-over of generations, has built up and maintained a reputation as a “small estate with high quality” and has become one of the most refined and significant realities in the Veronese winemaking world.
Already in the mid-800, the company was known for the excellent quality of its wines. The wines are produced from grapes carefully selected coming from the most suited and best exposed hillsides in the surrounding area. Red wines are well balanced and have great body. White wines are fresh with delicate bouquets. Both are the fruit of a superb marriage between age-old traditions and experience and the invaluable contribution of modern technology.
Delicate pressing and low temperature fermentation are the rule for all wines that carry the Santa Sofia brand. White wines are maintained in modern steel containers.
Great red wines, after solemn and slow ageing in barrels made of Slavonia and Allier oak, undergo final refining in the bottle.
Finesse, elegance, balance and a great pairing with food characterize the style of the company, which produces wines of the Valpolicella (Amarone, Ripasso, Recioto, Valpolicella), as well as of the most suitable DOC zones of the province of Verona, Soave, Bardolino, Lugana, Custoza.
The winery produces an average of 550,000 bottles of wine per year and is present with its wines in more than 50 countries worldwide.
