ud boar points - The 2009 Meandro Do Vale Meao is 35% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 25% Tinta Roriz and 5% each of Sousao and Tinta Barroca. Rather burly, powerful and hard edged this year, this Meandro shows a lot of everything. In keeping this open for awhile, I noted first how steely and hard it became and then finally saw some signs of it expanding and improving. This is a big Meandro – not that we haven’t seen big ones before – but it did come around pretty well with some time and effort. It is a lot of wine for this price range. Give it a couple of years to settle down. It has upside potential it is not showing at the moment, but it should be a great value . Drink 2014-2023. ”
CINGHIALE RATING 3.7
Medium burgundy color with darker highlights. Younger wine, very plummy with lots of bright red fruit. Very promising beginning, mouth filling with some sweetness. Soft tannins with low acidity. Wine started to fade towards the middle and totally fell of the precipice at the end. Good overall character and taste but no finish. We will see how it develops with more time.
