Intense, bold aromas of cherry and raspberry abound. Full-bodied and persistent with smoky, spicy, and earthy flavors. Ripe, sweet tannins and ample acidity finish off this wine.
Wine Spectator 89 points - Black currant, cedar and light herbal flavors are reminiscent of Bordeaux, yet this tastes New World, with the emphasis on fruit. The tannins are dense, with a lingering finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2016. 3,500 cases made.-BS

Wine Advocate 93 points - The flagship 2009 Poggio Bestiale is 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot aged in French oak barrels. It bursts from the glass with blackberries, smoke, graphite and licorice. I especially like the way the wine fleshes out on the mid-palate and finish. Hints of new leather, spices and licorice linger on the close. This is a great showing from the Poggio Bestiale. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (Jun 2012)
