Deep purplish ruby red
The superb raw material used to make this wine yields a nose of extraordinary fineness and complexity in which you can perceive scents of marasca cherry jam, blackberries and prunes with nuances of cloves, ginger, juniper, ink and liquorice.
It displays a structure of elegant aristocracy and Mediterranean lushness, the hallmark of a vital and crisp fruit supported by a precisely balanced acidity that never steps out of line, silky, caressing and dynamic tannins of great charm.
CINGHIALE RATING 3.7
Medium to dark garnet. Salt spray, burnt herbs as well as some mulberry/cherry on the nose-good harmony among the fragrances. Deep, still a bit wild tannins with excellent fresh acidity. You can taste the burnt earth of Sicily in this wine as well as the salt spray from the coast. It was like sitting next to a Falo' on the beach while shadow figures danced around in the Mediterranean breeze.
FIRRIATO is one of the "Power Houses" of Sicilian winemaking. In the beginning of the 80's, Salvatore and Vinzia had a dream of bringing Sicilian wines to high quality standards. Since then this tenacious-entrepreneurial couple, with the help of top enologist Giuseppe Pellegrino, created a range of wines that suit the most refined palates. All of their wines are a mix of tradition and innovation, a mix of indigenous and international varieties that throughout the years defined Sicily as perfect land.
|It matches perfectly with cannelloni with pecorino cheese and mutton stew, rigatoni alla pajata, deer stew, baked pork shin, pheasant with truffles, beef steak with a sauce of spices. Aged, firm-bodied cheeses are to be preferred.
