Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2011 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico is 60-40 Nero d?Avola and Frappato, aged 12 months in oak. The quality of the fruit is very dried, to the point of being a fault. Sun-dried cherries, raspberry roll-up candy and creme de cassis emerge in unison. The wine shows moderate depth and layering. A pretty dose of acidity helps to render more vibrancy to the mouthfeel. Drink 2014-2019. (May 2014)
CINGHIALE RATING 4.2
Light red with orange highlights-clear and translucent. Amazing aroma-fine line between Fabulous and Deeply Funky. Depending on when you smelled it you could get some barnyard-Fresh Clams or Flowering orchard. Great taste: Salt spray-raspberries-plums some fig. Good acidity and overall soft tannins. This wine was made excellent by the combination of its many parts. The individual characteristics were not great and sometimes bad, but when they came together they created something special. A unique, wonderful wine.
The Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a deep ruby red color. It has aromas of dried cherry, chocolate, smoke, herb and spice. It gains some licorice notes with time in the glass. Soft round fruity medium bodied palate with a good dose of acidity. The wines gives off dried cherry, truffle and smoky flavors in the mouth. Long finish
