|Gregorina is the latest acquisition of the Genagricola Company, led by Piero Totis of the Borgo Magredo and Torre Rosazza estates in Friuli. The project was also headed by Donato Lanati, one of Italy’s most noted enologists, and consultant to Borgo Magredo and Torre Rosazza.
The goal of this estate is to maximize the real potential of the Sangiovese grape in the particular microclimate of Emilia Romagna, a thus far underrated wine making region. At the moment the estate encompasses an area of 26 hectares of vineyards and another 10 hectares of newly planted vines. The Adriatic Sea is about 30 km away and the such proximity creates a so-called "Mediterranean Climate" condition, a condition very conducive to good harvests year after year with consistent light rainfalls in Autumn and consequently stable grape maturing.
The wines produced by this new estate are excellent values. They satisfy the palate at the level of much more expensive wines and are ideal for social functions and dinner parties.
