100% Carignano de Sulcis It is the brainchild of Gavino Sanna, a Sardinian who has lived in Milan for the past 50 years, where he built up one of Italy’s most successful advertising agencies. On a whim, he decided to sell the agency and seek new challenges. One of these challenges was the creation of a winery in Sulcis in southwestern Sardinia
|Wine maker notes
|‘Primo Rosso’ is deep ruby red in color. There are rich aromas of ripe wild berry fruit on the nose which continue on the palate. It is well-structured and well-balanced with a long finish. It is a versatile wine that pairs well with a wide variety of cuisine, especially meat-based first courses and fat-rich fish.
|The Mesa winery, owned by Gavino Sanna, Italy’s most celebrated advertising professional, represents the beauty and goodness of Sardinia—a celebration of the island’s generosity and culture expressed through one of its most noble treasures—wine. The estate is made up of 70 hectares of vineyards that focus largely on production of native Sardegna grape varieties. They are planted in the valley which shelters the vines from the surrounding sea winds. The winery was designed to ensure that both the grapes and the wines are treated with the deepest respect, using natural gravity flow production techniques instead of pumps.
