Deep dark ruby red with purplish hints
Marvelous scents of cherry, prunes, mulberries, blackberries and blackcurrants stand out followed by a duet with fine hints of rhubarb, cinchona, pepper, tobacco, nutmeg and dark chocolate entwined with nuances of minerals and undergrowth.
Power, elegance, lively tannins, matchless softness, freshness, all blended into a balanced and harmonious whole that overwhelms the palate seducing with its limpidity and extraordinary persistence and polish typical of a great wine.
ud boar points - With 12 months in barrique, the 2011 Nero d’Avola Harmonium sees fruit harvested from the Borgo Guarini vineyard located slightly inland from Trapani with softly rolling hills and prickly pears planted on the perimeter. The oak tones are too strong and I’m not confident they will integrate even with more bottle aging. Buttered popcorn and cinnamon (from 12 months in barrique) sit tight over dark blackberry and prune. The wine’s texture is thick and chewy. Drink 2015-2020.
CINGHIALE RATING 3.7
Brilliant Red garnet-Soft fruity nose with some vanilla and fresh herbs. Very silky mouth feel. Elegant and spicy. Lots of spice and fruit on the taste. Good acidity supports the backbone, tannins are still a little hidden. Middle not as assertive as it should be. Needs more time to develop. Good persistent aftertaste finishing off the wine with a bit of exotic spice.
