Malt Advocate 89 points - A new addition to the permanent Balvenie range. Lovely bright gold color. Layers of sweetness (the characteristic Balvenie honey, along with vanilla fudge, nougat, and rich toffee) peppered with dried spice and a hint of tropical fruit (papaya, guava, tangerine). Nice viscosity with good grip on the finish. I really like the balance and complexity of this whisky. A very solid effort and the price is right.

Ultimate Beverage Challenge 95 points - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2011 Finalist. Concentrated aromas of sawdust/wood plank and brown sugar are prevalent; toasty, rum-like, molasses tastes match up well with sweet bouquet. (Mar 2011)
Caribbean Cask has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks for 14 years, and then ‘finished’ in casks that preciously held Caribbean rum.
To create the ideal finish Malt Master David Stewart, filled American Oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums.
When he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the 14 year old spirit and the wood was put to work adding the final touches.
The result is an exceptional single malt whisky with the traditional smooth, honeyed character of The Balvenie, married with notes of toffee and a hint of fruit, with a warm, lingering finish.
|Bowmore’s celebrated Single Malt has been distilled on this jewel of an island, the Queen of the Hebrides, ever since 1779. This makes it the first of Islay’s eight distilleries chronologically speaking (and by taste too, many would say). Now, as then, Bowmore is widely acknowledged to be among the finest and most perfectly balanced single malts in the world.
