Well-balanced and harmonious, it develops with energy and liveliness; it is rich, warm and refined, with suave tannins of extraordinary lineage; the lingering aroma and rewarding and juicy finale are noteworthy.
Aside from offering a dramatic spectacle-whether in eruption, as portrayed in the 17th century print on the front label or not-Mount Etna offers the most extraordinary environment in which to grow grapes. Ancient bush vines are tended in the purest Classical Greek tradition, on volcanic soil, at up to 1,000 metre above sea level, yet near the Mediterranean Sea. These are just some of the reasons why Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese can produce such a vivid red wine so far South.
