CINGHIALE RATING 4.2
Castello Di Uzzano (Barbera 60% e Bonarda 40%)- Deep red-almost purple. Raspberry, earth with a hint of iron and lead pencil. Very tannic with great acidity-although still able to maintain its composure and class. Very fleshy and alive in the mouth. Lots of earth and spices with some aged wood and chocolate—smooth, notwithstanding the tannins and acidity, which were moving this wine along very well. Mouth filling and persistent. Great complex wine. Was changing every five minutes in the mouth. Needs to breathe. Superb value.
This is one of my favorite Barbera's. I know, there is some Bonarda in this blend and that is what makes this such a great wine. The 12 months in the barrel gives this wine the nice toasty oak which blends with the dark sweet red fruit aromas.
