Wine Advocate 90 points - Raisiny, with lots of dried flowers as well. Full-bodied, big and velvety, with loads of fruit and a long, long finish. Best ever from here. Best after 2010. --J.S.
CINGHIALE RATING 3.7
Dark red with brownish/red at the edges. Older nose of undergrowth, wood, leather. Much more extracted style of Brunello-During this time it would not be a surprise to have international grapes blended in. Kind of flat but smooth-not reminiscent of Brunello but pleasant to drink.
WINE ADVOCATE RATING 90
Camigliano’s deeply-colored 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto is made in a soft, supple style that doesn’t sacrifice power. Super-ripe fruit, smoke, vanilla and toasted oak all flow from the glass with outstanding length and terrific balance. A lingering note of sweetness frames the finish. This doesn’t look to be a long ager, but it is delicious today.
