Located on the outskirts of Ribero del Duero, just past Vega Sicilia in the steep hamlet of Sardon del Duero, Quinta Sardonia is a biodynamic project from Pingus' Peter Sisseck and Jerome Bougnaud producing a wine with a unique blend of international varieties alongside the native tinto fino (tempranillo). Peter made Pingus famous by using only the native tinto fino and only old
vines from within the classic and historic boundaries of Ribera del Duero. Peter wanted to make a world-class red wine that paid homage to the Bordeaux varieties he loves, but inside a vineyard he would create and plant literally from the ground up. This jewel-box of a vineyard is like his Bonsai garden; it is so meticulously tended, the results speak for themselves.
Quinta Sardonia is at an altitude of between 2100 and 2400 feet and located about 1200 feet from the Duero River. There are 20 hectares of which 17 are vineyards and the rest are mountain and
pine forest.
